The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented leader to join our team to lead the design and implementation of a Data Management and Data Governance function as a key component of the overall MRSI data strategy. The incumbent will help support the overall MRSI Data initiative with a primary focus on leading the data management practices on an operational level including data quality and data catalog, data standardization, etc.

You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals, including domains, business and IT stakeholders, to identify and prioritize master data elements and domains, and lead the design and implementation of MDM frameworks/policies and operational processes, including optimizing the use of external third party data for portfolio management, risk management, risk assessment, advanced analytics etc. as well as data governance frameworks/policies

Responsibilities:

The following are key tasks of the role:
  • As a business leader be accountable for and oversee the design, development and implementation of an enterprise-wide MDM and data governance program that ensures the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of master data across the organization
  • Establish a vision and strategy for MDM and data governance, platform, and services, focusing on business outcomes tracked via data health KPIs
  • Lead a team responsible for MDM/RDM solution implementations, data quality engineering, governance analysts, MDM data analysts and data stewardship enablement
  • Define and implement standards for MDM domains, e.g. entity resolution, hierarchy management
  • Work closely with relevant corporate partners (e.g. IT, Data Assets, Enterprise Architecture) to ensure alignment with corporate technology standards, and be the voice of MRSI's business requirements in these discussions
  • Responsibility for the linkage of internal and relevant external data to the MDM commercial party domain and ensure that the MRSI Data Marketplace has current firmographic information available for use in Data Products
  • Define data quality (DQ) standards and implement DQ monitoring and remediation process partnering with upstream business process owners, domain owners, data products, and analytics team
  • Organize and facilitate the operations of the Data Governance Council and related processes, engaging closely with Sr Business Unit and Functional stakeholders across the company
  • Direct the development of and be accountable for the maintenance of Data Catalog/Dictionaries, Lineages, and Taxonomies including identification of business-critical metrics and data elements,
  • Partner with the Data product teams to ensure proper controls have been implemented for proactive monitoring of critical product features, availability, and stability, incl ensuring data product interoperability through the consistent application of Master and Reference Data
  • Monitor and communicate data management and governance program activities and roadmap to foundational and then transformational maturity
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, and be an advocate for Data Culture and change management throughout the organization
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing, skill development, and professional growth.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members, and regularly assess performance against objectives.


Job Requirements:
  • 15+ years' experience in MDM and Data governance or related Data & Analytics field
  • 10+ years' experience managing direct reports
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of insurance processes, terminology and concepts
  • Experience leading and directing the development and execution of large scale MDM or RDM implementations in complex environments, preferably in a P&C insurance context
  • Familiarity with and experience managing or using third party data in an MDM context
  • Experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of industry tools used to manage/implement data governance components (Alation, Collibra, Informatica, etc.)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate direct and cross-domain teams
  • Ability to stay up to date with industry data trends and best practices
  • B.S. Degree preferably in a data-centric field (Economics, Computer Science or other relevant field), Information Systems, Information Processing or engineering.


This position is being offered in NYC. The salary range posted below applies to the Company's NYC location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $193,100 - $283,100 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
