Data Scientist, Analytics Responsibilities


  • Build business intelligence methodologies, processes, and analytic capabilities in support of escalation teams who have shared needs to make operational decisions based on data regarding their workflows.

  • Use quantitative and qualitative research to perform analyses on operational risks, opportunities, and issues.

  • Create solutions that deliver the awareness and insights teams' need, in a way that is accessible, timely, and meaningful.

  • Synthesize data analysis into reports and presentations that provide a coherent narrative about gaps and opportunities facing escalation teams, and explain analytic assessments that resulted from the analysis of raw data.

  • Foster strong collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues whose decisions will be informed by data analysis.

  • Understand requirements facing each team, and inspire consistent and scalable solutions that fulfill those needs.

  • Work closely with data operations analysts who are responsible for building our operational instrumentation.

  • Work in partnership to communicate business requirements and understand options for infrastructure solutions to those requirements.

  • Identify data and tooling requirements in order to influence project prioritization and roadmaps.

  • Provide data support for escalation teams in critical escalations, as needed.

  • Develop long-term strategies to increase the organizations ability to efficiently and autonomously investigate escalations via self-service tooling and via coaching and mentoring that result in the up leveling of escalation domain specialists.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, or related field and 36 months in the job offered or in a related occupation. Foreign degree equivalent accepted. Experience must include 36 months involving the following:

  • 1. Relational database (SQL or PL *SQL)

  • 2. Statistical analysis using SAS

  • 3. Large scale data processing infrastructures using distributed systems including Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, or MPI

  • 4. Quantitative analysis techniques including clustering, regression, or pattern recognition

  • 5. Quantitative analysis techniques including descriptive and inferential statistics

  • 6. Communicating and presenting results of data analyses.
