Job Duties

POSITION: Data Scientist

WORK LOCATION: Durham, NC. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.

JOB DUTIES: Discover, define, and execute data products that deliver value. Gather business requirements; understand complex product, business, and engineering challenges; compose, prioritize, and execute research projects in partnership with other data scientists/analysts/engineers. Deconstruct problems and transform insights into data-backed recommendations. Build scalable data orchestration, transformation, and reporting streams for customer reporting, and a long term 'data analytics stack'. Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery, working with business/engineering teams to identify scope, constraints, dependencies, risks, and opportunities. Communicate status to project team and management. Responsible for corporate metrics to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and intent of all data products within area of ownership. What You'll Need to be Successful

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Primary Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in a data scientist/engineer-related occupation, including 3 years of experience in each of the following: BI, advanced SQL, scripting using Python and/or R, advanced data visualization, building dashboards, and building data visualizations in PowerBI and/or Tableau


Alternative Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in a data scientist/engineer-related occupation, including 5 years of experience in each of the following: BI, advanced SQL, scripting using Python and/or R), advanced data visualization, building dashboards, and building data visualizations in PowerBI and/or Tableau


Employer will accept any combination of experience, training or education. All experience and skills may be gained concurrently.

Base pay may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee's role.
