Our work depends on a Data Scientist - Sales & Modernization joining our team to Support the Data Analysis & Visualization Development and Modeling & Optimization team

HOW A DATA SCIENTIST - SALES & MODERNIZATION WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Identifies business trends and problems through complex big data analysis.
  • Interprets results from multiple sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently.
  • Designs, develops and implements the most valuable business solutions for the organization.
  • Prepares data models and develops database to support the business solutions.
  • Analysis techniques are appropriate for the given need and available data.
  • Project timelines are met within a reasonable variance due to uncertainty of the individual project.
  • Project documentation is accurate to the analysis findings and free of grammatical errors.
  • Products meet the Business Unit's needs and are usable by the Business Unit with minimal training.
  • Prepare mathematical optimization models.
  • Develop source code and/or scripting.
  • Translate documentation for use in analytical and visualization product development.
  • Develop proposal presentations.
  • Model parameters and functions are appropriate for the given need and available data.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University in Statistics, Math or applicable field of services is preferred. If no relevant college degree, then an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of related professional experience
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience in data science, statistics, or experimental psychology that focuses on certain questions to reveal information that contributes to larger findings or a conclusion.
  • Proficient ability to develop source code and/or scripting using SQL and/or Python (possessing both preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with Databricks and SAS
  • Proficient communication skills, and adaptable to work in a variety of industries
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace and adapt to a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in the following:
    • Rapid analysis scripts
    • Visualization prototypes / models
    • Interactive dashboards
    • Visioning session materials
    • Analysis reports and presentations
    • Project plans and documentation
Security Clearance Level:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $69,722 - $116,438. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
