Database Architect

We are currently seeking a Database Architect to join our team. This position is responsible for working with the Database Architecture team and associated development teams. Actively participates in database and application design sessions, analysis, and other team functions to learn about Insperity’s software management systems and processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Designs logical and physical data model and database components required by the Business Applications department.
  • Works with other teams as necessary to gather input for technical design and development.
  • Recommends the best practices for the design and development of data access components.
  • Works with development teams and the Database Administration Team to troubleshoot database performance issues to ensure optimal application performance.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding code design, application interaction, and physical database design.
  • Works with the Project Management Team on scope definition, estimation of work effort, and task definition.
  • Participates in the SCRUM process with the Project Management and Development Teams.
  • Defines and promotes database standards using industry best practices.
  • Mentors team members in the design and development for project work efforts.
  • Creates technical documentation as required for all project work.
  • Reviews assignment status and progress with management.
  • Coordinates unit testing of projects for release into the production environment.
  • Collaborates with teams for deployment of projects through defined release cycle.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Three to five years of professional work experience is required.
  • Current professional certifications in SQL Server or Oracle are preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of technical database architecture.
  • Strong customer service attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and maintains positive and effective work relations with team members.
  • Able to work with customers within the business to effectively capture, validate and document business requirements.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work within a team environment.
  • Exhibits a sense of urgency when dealing with break fix issues that directly impact end user utilization.
  • Able to manage problem-solving activity in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the utilization and enforcement of defined standards and process.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software operations and principles.
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of data architecture industry, methodologies, marketplace, and technology trends.
  • Required working knowledge of Windows based operating systems. Unix based operating system is a plus.
  • Required DBMS skills including physical implementation, and architecture on Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database Administration skills is a plus.
