DB2 Database Administrator

LaSalle Network is partnering with a global client to help identify a DB2 Database Administrator to join their team. The DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and performance tuning of DB2 LUW databases. This role involves ensuring database availability, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and supporting database-related projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DB2 LUW database management, troubleshooting and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the potential for extensions. This position can be performed 100% remotely.

DB2 Database Administrator Responsibilities:

• Install and configure DB2 LUW databases across Linux, UNIX and Windows environments
• Apply patches and updates as necessary to ensure optimal performance and security
• Monitor database performance and perform tuning to improve efficiency and responsiveness
• Analyze and resolve performance issues, including query optimization and index management
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
• Perform regular database backups and test recovery procedures
• Implement and maintain database security policies and access controls
• Monitor and respond to security alerts and ensure compliance with security standards
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as database reorganization and cleanup
• Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to services
• Provide technical support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving problems
• Collaborate with development teams to support database-related application needs
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures and issues
• Generate reports on database performance, capacity and other relevant metrics
• Work closely with IT teams, developers and other stakeholders to support database needs and projects
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required

DB2 Database Administrator Requirements:

• Proven experience as a DB2 Database Administrator with a focus on DB2 LUW
• Hands-on experience with DB2 LUW on Linux, UNIX and Windows platforms
• Experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery and security management
• Strong knowledge of DB2 LUW database architecture and administration
• Proficiency in SQL and database scripting
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools and techniques
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
