IT Tech - Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

DC IT Tech

SUMMARY

The DC IT Tech is responsible for providing competent IT (Information Technology) services by using practical experiences while working under minimal supervision of department management. Technicians are expected to carry out detailed instructions within the scope of their job description. All technicians are expected to uphold a superior craftsmanship exemplary of the company's core values and ethics. All work shall be in compliance with OSHA and National Code Standards.

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:

Monday- Friday 8-4:30 9-5:30. On-Call for Work Stoppage issue

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Be On-Call after hours for Work Stoppage issues.
  • Perform Pick-to-Light support and initial troubleshooting, including working with PHO IT to escalate issues to vendor.
  • Perform password resets and account provisioning for user Active Directory accounts.
  • Monitoring and alerting on network equipment status.
  • Performs installation, setup and integration of personal computing environments with all required software and hardware. Including user support and troubleshooting. Tasks may require accurate measurement/math skills (e.g., measuring communication wire for set ups or hooking up servers) and/or reading/interpreting step-by-step instructions.
  • Performs RF device user support including reflash, reboot, asset tracking and trending. Verifies, logs/ships defectives, configures/verifies/deploys replacements, and troubleshoots coverage issues including regular site surveys and link tests.
  • Communicates in a professional manner and acts as the central point for gathering user issues and reporting them back to PHO IT. Liaisons with PHO IT to resolve issues and may propose solutions.
  • Performs printer maintenance including cleaning, adjustments, troubleshooting, and creating work tickets. Communicates/coordinates with onsite vendor including replacing toners, labels, and ribbon (for label and laser printers).
  • Provides user setup and troubleshooting (local and with remote support) for the Warehouse and Labor Management Systems, requiring effective communication to resolve issues.
  • Perform audits to ensure compliance with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) SOX requirements for new hires and terminations.
  • Provides user setup, badge printing, access control and PC support for the CCure security system.
  • Performs port activation, environmental monitoring, UPS support and switch/router replacements for all MDF/IDF activities.
  • Controls expenses for consumable ordering (print heads, laser maintenance kits, Vocollect headbands) and abuse tracking.
  • Reporting on and maintaining inventory levels of consumable equipment (print heads, batteries, printer maintenance kits, etc.)


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates or Technical Degree in IT field preferred.
  • Requires proficiency in a technical support capacity in an office/warehouse environment typically obtained in 12 - 18 months.
  • Requires ability to read, speak, write and understand English (i.e., written documents such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents).
  • Previous experience with the setup, installation, and troubleshooting laser jet, and label printers is required.
  • Requires human relations skills to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff.
  • Requires communication skills to effectively present information to DC and PHO staff/management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to use/read tape measure.


TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of desktop computing system hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with the OSI model and associated Network Protocols such as the 802-protocol suite.
  • A basic understanding of Routers, switches, bridges, hubs, and thin clients, laptops, desktops and their use in a network environment.
  • Working knowledge of Network/Data/Telcommunications cabling Standards and practices in the installation of coaxial cable, cat 5/6 cable, and fiber cable.
  • Understanding of networking technology and ability to identify/troubleshoot network related problems.
  • Ability to work with Vocollect including debugging, link testing, upgrade (via flash), test and monitor after updates.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A+ and Network Plus certifications preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit and stoop. The applicant may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl and communicate verbally with other DC staff. May also occasionally need to lift and/or move machinery or tools weighing up to 55 pounds. Occasionally ascends/descends ladder, boom lift or scissor lift used by staff to service equipment within the location. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment and exposed to low to mid-level electrical. The work environment can also be dusty. The noise level in the work environment may be loud and temperatures may be extreme (hot or cold). Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous materials, i.e. cleaning supplies, shampoos, battery acid, etc. If working in a Fish DC, the associate will be exposed to a damp and humid environment with frequent exposure to water and aquatic animals.
