The ideal candidate provides Records, Graduation Review & Diploma Services. The primary responsibility of the Degree Program Specialist position is to enforce the Boards of Regents, University, and College requirements for degree completion. The person in this position must exercise sound judgment and work independently as situations arise that must be addressed concerning student issues with meeting graduation requirements. Provides interpretation of policy and procedures, working closely with college representatives and students. Evaluates all student records to ensure students complete graduation requirements in a timely manner by helping them identify and meet all requirements.

The person in this position must exercise sound judgment and work independently as situations arise that must be addressed concerning student issues with meeting graduation requirements. Provides interpretation of policy and procedures, working closely with college representatives and students. Evaluates all student records to ensure students complete graduation requirements in a timely manner by helping them identify and meet all requirements.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities :
- Have an in-depth knowledge of degree programs and policies governing the conferral of degrees.
- Evaluates all student records to ensure students complete graduation requirements in a timely manner by helping them identify and meet all requirements.
- Work in close consultation with Academic Advisors within select departments.
- Perform final audits on academic records for select colleges and degree programs twice during each candidate's final term to lead to final degree conferral.
- Evaluate student academic records and cumulative grade point averages, final graduation GPA and determine student eligibility for University Honors.
- Provide interpretation of Board of Regents, University and program policies, and the procedures for review and conferral of degrees with representatives of the Colleges as well as students.
- Prior to graduation review, work with potential candidates for graduation in completing the application for graduation and in interpreting the student program evaluation, mapping student progress toward completion.
- Communicate with students in a variety of modes to ensure continuous progress toward degree completion. Assist with letters of completion and documentation for degree conferral for alumni. Ensure proper representation of candidates is included in the commencement program booklet.
- Prepare and maintain graduation application files for graduate and undergraduate students to ensure permanent, official documentation is recorded for proof of final degree conferral and in proper format for internal and external audits. System testing to ensure functionality of processes.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; a high school diploma or GED and four years of administrative experience; or a combination of related experience.
- Candidates who demonstrate knowledge of registrar-related functions, processes, and laws governing academic records will be given preference.
- Must have a working knowledge of integrated student record data systems, such as Banner and Banner Workflow.
- Must have a collaborative, energetic, and resourceful work style.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and exhibit excellent customer service skills.
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Argos, and SQL.
