Job Duties:

The Division for Aging Services in collaboration with community partners, provides and advocates for resources and services to improve the employment, quality of life, security and independence of older Virginians, Virginians with disabilities, and their families. The Division for Aging Services receives substantial funding from the Commonwealth to augment federal programs and to offer additional programs to people with disabilities and older Virginians.

We are seeking a Dementia Services Specialist (Wage).

The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist the Dementia Services Director with the implementation, evaluation and tracking of the Dementia State Plan. Assist with the planning and coordination of the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) Commission activities, including workgroup and committee scheduling and minutes.
  • Support the Director with project and program development, management, and evaluation, including assisting with the preparation of required reporting.
  • Assist the Director with outreach and community education on ADRD and related issues.
  • Assist with information and referrals for consumers on issues related to ADRD.
  • Assist the Dementia Services Director with evaluating and measuring grant outcomes, providing input into grant reporting.
  • Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned in response to an emergency declaration
This is a wage (part-time) position and will work on average of 24 hours a week and can't exceed 1500 hours during their employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

Knowledge/Experience -
  • Knowledge of issues related to Alzheimer's disease and related disorders related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Experience or training in public health, social work, psychology, or related field.
Abilities/Skills -
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of partners, manage multiple priorities, evaluate program operations, prepare statistical and narrative reports, analyze various types of information, and monitor programs.
  • Skills in using a personal computer and a variety of office software and electronic platforms.
