The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Human Resources Director in the Office of Human Resources. Under the guidance of the Director of Human Resources, the Deputy Human Resources Director serves as a strategic liaison by aligning the Court's objectives with employees and management in designated offices. Partners with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies focused on employee relations, staff engagement, performance management, succession planning, training and development, recruitment, leave management, compliance, and compensation.

What You'll Do:
Conduct regular meetings with leadership in assigned offices and provides HR guidance when appropriate.

Manage and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations and consults on resolutions.

Act as a change agent, thought leader, and single point of contact for employees and managers within the assigned offices.

Provide day-to-day coaching to leadership on a variety of actions to include succession planning, policy interpretation and application; performance management, training and development; and organizational design consultation.

Manage all aspects of the Court's recruitment and selection process and ensures compliance with Court policies and applicable laws; collaborates with Court managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Manage Family Medical Leave Act requests, disability claims, and workers' compensation claims.

Oversee onboarding process and conducts new hire orientation.

Supervise Human Resources Analyst.

Manage performance management program.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Qualifications
What we're looking for:

Bachelor's degree required, a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences preferred. A master's degree in a human resources-related field will be considered a plus.

A minimum of five years of professional experience in the human resources field with responsibility for a combination of duties involving recruitment and selection; performance management; training and development; and employee relations; payroll; benefits administration; compliance; HRIS; and salary administration.

Previous supervisory experience or equivalent with progressively responsible experience in human resources preferred.

Knowledge of business, human resources, public administration, and employment laws, rules, policies, and procedures, as well as customer service and employee counseling techniques.

The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with justices, judges, attorneys, supervisors, co-workers, and the public.

Requires the ability to perform all aspects of the job with fairness, equity, patience, discretion, and confidentiality.

The ability to establish and maintain collaborative effective working relationships with supervisors and office staff, division directors and managers, public officials, and state agencies.

Problem solving skills, judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information.

Experience in public sector human resources management (preferably with the state of Ohio) preferred.

Professional Human Resources Certification will be considered a plus.
