Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Design Project Manager to work remotely for our ADASP project.

General Program Description

The Amtrak ADA Stations Program (ADASP) is responsible for bringing Amtrak stations into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The ADASP implements design and construction of infrastructure improvements to provide accessibly to Amtrak's intercity rail transportation system. This position will be part of a Joint Venture (AECOM & Jacobs) that is providing staff and services to Amtrak.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as Amtrak's representative to manage and coordinate with external entities such as design consultants (Designer of Record-DOR) Host Railroads, General Contractors, State Historic Preservation Offices and Local Authorities. Must be flexible and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Provides design guidance to the Designer of Record and enforces Amtrak standards with a focus on ADA compliance.
  • Provides design guidance and oversight to General Contractor during Construction Phase Services (CPS)
  • Coordinate with internal Amtrak departments such as Passenger Operations, Engineering, Legal, Real Estate and Government Affairs.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders to include the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Third-Party Entities to include municipal authorities and private property owners.
  • Ability to maintain Schedules, prepare reports and presentations, edit specifications, review change orders and shop drawings.
  • Perform ADA site assessments at Amtrak Stations.
  • Prepare scope documents and concept drawings.
  • Ability to travel periodically to Amtrak stations nationwide. Approximately 15% travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (or Engineering) and six (6) years of architectural or engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience
  • Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Architect (or Professional Engineer)
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 15% to conduct site assessments
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated design and organizational skills with interest in renovation, transportation, and historic preservation
  • Must be experienced with the International Building Code, ANSI A117.1 and ADA Guidelines DOTAS 2006
  • Experience working with ADA assessments/ADA compliance is highly preferred
  • Prefer 10 years of relevant experience

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $140,000.00.
