Reporting to the AVP, Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey, the Development Associate, will provide day-to-day support for Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey's development related programs. The associate coordinates fundraising activities, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects as well as relationship building with frontline and administrative staff and faculty. A key function of this position will be qualification outreach via phone and email.

As a key member of the Office of Institutional Advancement and Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey department teams, the Development Associate will work with the AVP, Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey and team to qualify grateful patient prospects, implement key fundraising strategies, assist in translating institutional priorities into appropriate major gift fundraising programs, collaborate and work closely with leadership in identifying and responding to gift opportunities, and maintain the flow of information about these priorities throughout the organization. S/he will maintain an active portfolio of key gift prospects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • In collaboration with the AVP, Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey, Department Chairs and Division Directors, the Development Associate will support the priorities of Jefferson Health New Jersey.
  • Assist AVP and team to qualify, cultivate, and steward top prospects and develop and identify the pipeline for new prospects
  • Review and distribute clinical referral lists preparing lists for outreach and clinician review
  • Maintain list of physician partners and key staff, schedule regular meetings for the team with physicians/clinicians to review patients and receive grateful patient referrals and regular department meetings as needed
  • Personally develop and maintain a portfolio of individual mid-level gift prospects, maintaining frequent and consistent contact with prospects, department leaders and volunteers, and key members of Jefferson's administrative leadership. Maintain and manage this portfolio in a manner that fosters a relationship that leads to philanthropic commitment.
  • In collaboration with the AVP and team, work to develop a comprehensive understanding of the educational, research, clinical and financial needs and goals of assigned clinical programs; establish, maintain, and grow a highly responsive and collaborative development program to meet these needs/goals.
  • Coordinate with sponsors of third-party fundraising events and work with OIA events team to offer benefactor guidance to fulfill the goals of Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey.
  • Serve as a liaison for AVP, on OIA services including, but not limited to, communications projects, donor and physician communication, events and third-party event sponsors.
  • Responsibility for strategy execution and the achievement of defined performance goals.
  • Manage an individual prospect pool of 50 or more / up to $25k
  • Conduct a minimum of 125 Meaningful Donor Encounters per year
  • Generate 2 proposal per month > $2,500 (minimum 24/yr)
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's core values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of professional experience required



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:



EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 0 to 2 years of direct or related fundraising experience, preferably with experience in a health related or educational institution.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Fundraising experience in the area of individual gifts development, annual or corporate and foundation giving is desirable.
  • Cold calling or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies.
  • Possess the ability to work independently, as well as cohesively to work as a member of the team.
  • Experience with database software systems and Microsoft Office. Exhibits time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to articulate, both written and orally a compelling case for major philanthropic support for medicine programs, presenting objectives persuasively to potential donors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Conditions of Employment
