Position Summary

Since 1997, The HCCC Foundation's single purpose includes promoting and supporting Hudson County Community College. The Development Coordinator reports to the Vice President for Advancement and Communications (VPAC) and provides comprehensive administrative and operational support for the Advancement Team at a pivotal time in our history. The Development Coordinator will play an integral role in helping develop the systems, processes, and procedures and identify the tools essential for expanding HCCC's fundraising capacity as it prepares for its 50th Anniversary.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Donor Cultivation/Stewardship
  • Work closely with the VP to establish and maintain ongoing donor and prospect relationships by drafting personalized and targeted correspondence, donor briefing materials, collateral materials for solicitation purposes, stewardship letters, donor gift agreements, gift renewals, and letters of inquiry.
  • Routinely draft and coordinate mass mailings, electronic appeals, and campaigns.
  • Conduct donor research and create detailed profiles using DonorSearch and iWave software.
  • Design appeals in concert with Communications and coordinate, schedule, and synthesize appeal results.
  • Assist with creating a moves management process for major gift prospects and donors.
  • Create donor sponsorship materials and pitch decks for effective solicitations.
  • Demo CRMs, e-marketing tools, and fundraising software make recommendations based on findings.

Administrative/Clerical
  • Manage the Advancement calendar to achieve quarterly and annual fundraising goals.
  • Draft and proof Advancement and donor communications as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to phone and email inquiries from donors and potential donors, including donor information updates and programming questions.
  • Interview, manage and evaluate department student workers.
  • Performs duties & responsibilities as requested by the Vice President for Advancement and Communications.

Event Planning
  • Coordinate and support targeted fundraising and recognition events and programs, including invitation development, timelines, calendars, and bio preparation, as needed.
  • Manage post-event analysis and follow-up internally and externally.


Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-4 years of fundraising/development work experience are required.
  • Comfort working with donors, volunteers, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends is essential.
  • Direct experience managing CRMs and an aptitude for e-marketing tools and fundraising software (iWave, Foundation Center, Blackbaud, OneCause, GiveButter, GradUWay, etc.)
  • Experience effectively managing complex projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to present ideas and solutions for meeting goals and overcoming challenges.
  • Proven ability to manage up and down to achieve successful results.
  • Superb administrative skills. Expert-level facility with Microsoft 365, including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations and slide decks.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently with a thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
  • Sound judgment. Comfortable handling and safeguarding confidential information.

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) serves more than 18,000 credit and non-credit students annually. The College offers nearly 80 degree and certificate programs, including award-winning English as a Second Language, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management, Nursing, and Health Sciences, and Fine and Performing Arts. The HCCC Culinary/Hospitality Management program was ranked number six in the U.S. by Best Choice Schools. Over 94% of HCCC Nursing program graduates passed the NCLEX the first time out, placing the program's graduates in the top tier of two- and four-year nursing programs nationwide.
