About the Agency: The mission of the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) is to assist libraries to build the capacity to best serve their communities. Purpose: As a member of the management team, this position supports the mission of the agency by: (1) leading, supervising, and supporting the Youth Services Team and (2) providing project management or coordination for a variety of special or as-needed projects and initiatives of the agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Connect libraries with statewide resources that will build their capacity to best serve their communities.
  • Identify and connect with other organizations to form/strengthen relationships in support of the library role in addressing community needs.
  • Represent interests, assets, and needs of Idaho libraries through collaborations and partnerships on a state, regional, and national level.
  • Provide management and oversight of the agency's participation in a federal grant program.
  • Coordinate program activities among agency staff.
  • Evaluate, mentor and coach staff job performance using current performance management practices.
  • Hire and make staffing recommendations.
  • Contribute to meetings and projects of the Management Team and other work groups.
  • Develop and make recommendations for plans, policies, and guidelines.
  • Assist with the development and review of agency strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

Some knowledge of:

  • Management practices


Experience:

  • Developing procedures and monitoring a budget;
  • Supervising staff;
  • Providing liaison with customer/provider groups;
  • Interpreting federal or state regulations.


Desired Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of:

  • Administration and operation of libraries including current library theory, practice, trends, and library and information science principles and programs. Typically gained by a Master's degree in library science; OR a Bachelor's degree AND at least two (2) years' of professional library experience.
