Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support KITS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This is a Remote opportunity.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The DevOps Engineer with a security emphasis and AWS knowledge will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure cloud-based solutions while ensuring best security practices are followed. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing secure cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS
  • Implementing security policies and best practices for cloud-based applications
  • Collaborating with development teams to integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline
  • Monitoring systems for security vulnerabilities and conducting regular security audits
  • Engaging in incident response activities and addressing security issues promptly
  • Automating security processes and configuration management
  • Implementing and managing AWS/Azure services and resources
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure security and compliance requirements are met

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering with a focus on security
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • Experience with implementing security controls in cloud environments

Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services and hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Understanding of security best practices and common security threats
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain public trust clearance

Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience working in a federal government IT environment
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST
  • Experience with security assessment tools and vulnerability scanning
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • AWS Certified Security - Specialty certification or azure equivalent
  • Experience with security incident response and forensics

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
