The Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Digital Technology product management organization is seeking a DevOps Engineer to provide support for initiatives leveraging Python, Java, & R.

This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the solution architecture and technical components of these platforms.

This specialist will coordinate with compliance, cyber security, business owners, architects, and developers to support the teams efforts in delivering, deploying, and maintaining software on our platforms.

This is a very hands-on technical role that requires knowledge of programming, cloud services and proper deployment procedures. Functional skills in the following areas are needed: Python, Linux, SQL, R, JavaScript, Azure and AWS cloud experience, Web Development and Database administration

Location: Remote

Responsibilities include:
  • Support, administrate and manage Azure Python / R platforms.
  • Troubleshoot database systems based in the cloud - Oracle, MSSQL and Hadoop.
  • Deploy DevOps, Linux commands, and testing procedures.
  • Develop websites using web services, micro-services and other web resources
  • Work across teams to provide solutions on platforms and applications demonstrating regard for the impact of cyber security, compliance, and legal practices and procedures.
  • Deploy Data Analytics on premises and cloud-based software solutions using DataIku, Qlik, and Metric Insights platforms.
  • Design and maintain agile sprints and program iterations driving solution milestone delivery.
  • Develop service bus technologies to create concurrency and change data capture for diverse database vendors.
  • Create data modeling and machine learning solutions
  • Meet timelines, budgets, milestones, acceptance criteria and support critical thinking around managing expectations within diverse stakeholders.


Functional Skills:
  • Python, Linux, SQL, R, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Azure and AWS cloud experience and expertise
  • Docker images/containers
  • Database administration
  • SQL Server and Oracle experience
  • Github familiarity
  • Application security models


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree with 8+ years of related experience OR

advanced degree with 5+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contractual requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exemplary communication skills with English to communicate complex technical solutions in simple business terms.
  • Coding Procedures including but not limited to SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Experience building pipelines in Linux environments
  • Ability to speak intelligently to security practices and industry standards
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within discipline
  • Oral and written English fluency. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work professionally with individuals and in teams and to interact effectively at all levels within the company.
  • Understanding of software development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery.
  • Experience with application scalability and performance testing
