Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor and/or radiologist, performs a variety of ultrasound procedures, including invasive procedures.

Education:
Required:
ARDMS (compliant with all continuing education mandates) or
A graduate of an ARRT approved radiologic technology program. Reference: https://www.arrt.org/Education/ (compliant with all continuing education mandates), an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program and considered registry eligible by the ARDMS or

Graduate of an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program and considered registry eligible by the ARDMS or

Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with on-the-job training in diagnostic ultrasound and considered registry eligible by the ARDMS.

Experience:
Required:
Medical and/or hospital clinical experience required
Basic computer experience required (1-2 years work experience or college level classes)

Preferred:
One year prior hospital experience in ultrasound preferred.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
One of the following:
1) ARRT and ARDMS registered
2) ARDMS registered
3) ARDMS registry eligible (certification within two years)
4) BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

Department Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor and/or radiologist, performs a variety of ultrasound procedures, including invasive procedures. This position requires independent judgment and initiative in utilization of ultrasound equipment to create high quality images. Excellent communication and rapport with physicians is required.

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
