Position Overview:

As a Diesel Mechanic, you are responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel engines and various components of our fleet of heavy duty vehicles, machinery and equipment. You are responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:
  • Performing diagnostic tests on diesel engines and related systems
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
  • Conducting repairs on engines, transmission systems, exhaust systems, brakes systems, hydraulic systems and electrical components
  • Carrying out regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements and tire rotations
  • Inspecting and testing vehicles and components to ensure proper functioning
  • Maintaining records of maintenance and repairs
  • Dismantling and reassembling engines and other components
  • Replacing or repairing defective parts using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
  • Ensuring that all tools and equipment are in good working condition
  • Maintaining an organized, clean and safe working environment
  • Communicating inventory needs of parts and materials to leadership & inventory/parts team
  • Adhering to all safety protocols
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies
  • Staying updated on industry trends
  • Communicating effectively with vehicle operators regarding maintenance needs and repairs
  • Providing detailed reports on the work performed and any additional required actions
  • Assisting other mechanics with tasks when needed
  • Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Experience:
  • Preferred: 3-5 years experience as a diesel mechanic or related field
  • Preferred: Technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics or related field
  • Required: Valid Driver's License & CDL-A
Schedule:
  • Open availability needed
  • Weekends Required
Environment:
  • Work environment will vary with temperatures
Skills:
  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment - getting on and off equipment throughout shift
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure completion of all work assignments
