Summary/Objective:

The Diesel Mechanic will maintain/repair all types of company owned vehicles, including Gasoline, Diesel, Electric and Propane powered. Trouble shoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions, and efficiently repairs the same.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform computer diagnostics, trouble shooting and put together repair plans.
  • DOT inspections and ability to evaluate performance of all drive train component work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, steering systems.
  • Repairs, on a minor and/or emergency basis, parts of bodies, i.e., doors, landing gear, etc.
  • Ability to install, adjust or align brakes, and wheels and wheel components such as bearings and air brake and valve systems to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
  • Knowledge of air/electric/hydraulic brake and valve systems to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
  • Adheres to strict safe working practices, Company policies, rules, regulations, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports to supervisor if not immediately correctable.
  • Knowledge of vehicle body control systems including electronics, AC, and hydraulic systems light/Medium and Heavy-Duty Trucks Diesel Engines, Cat/Cummins Engines, Transmissions, 12/24 Volt vehicle electrical systems/Water Blasting Equipment/Heavy Duty Vacuum Trucks/Air Machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all units as scheduled and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years Diesel Mechanical Experience/Training
  • Strong communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Current CDL and TWIC card a plus, may be required to travel.
  • High Pressure Jetting Equipment knowledge a plus
  • High Velocity Industrial Vacuum Equipment knowledge mandatory
  • Must have own tools/transportation and be reliable and hard working.
  • Technical Institute Training or equivalent work experience and training is not a must, but favorable. Capability to do electrical wiring.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA, Fire Protection regulations, fall protection.
  • Follow all Safety, Personal Protective and Equipment Policies.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be capable of lifting to 50 lbs., physically able to handle large tools.
  • Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl. Perform all essential job duties.
  • All weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet, and snow.
  • Daylight, twilight, evening, and dark lighting conditions
  • Noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes
  • Work hours will vary daily due to business needs.


Duties of the Diesel-Heavy Duty Industrial Vacuum Truck / Equipment Mechanic may include:
