Job Summary:
The food service worker will work in the dietary department, ensuring meals are out timely to patients and/or staff. Will be aware of the patient's diet and maintain the patient logbook, keeping it current at all times. Will have thorough knowledge of the menu and have direct contact with patients in order to assist them with meal decisions. Will inform patients of their best choices according to their prescribed diet and inform them of menu changes and daily specials. Also provide a high level of customer service assisting the kitchen team in maintaining prep levels at par and cooking when needed. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.

Previous healthcare experience in acute or long-term care setting required.

License and Certifications:

Food Handlers Card required.

What you will do (Roles and Responsibilities):

  • Assist in preparing meals & nourishments for patients and staff.
  • Use of kitchen appliances and utensils.
  • Stock kitchen, nurses' station and physician lounge.
  • Deliver and remove food trays from patient rooms.
  • Maintain an orderly and sanitary work environment.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Assists in all areas of food service needs.
  • Maintain weekly food budget.
  • Ability to multitask and oversee other team members.
