Masters-Prepared Registered Dietitian (RD)

Experience in Diabetes Education

Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a plu

Experience with Gestational Diabetes Education

Proficient in Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT)

Responsibilities

Educate patients, healthcare workers and the community about controlling diabetes through nutritional management.

  • Coordinate with designated staff to effectively integrate medical nutrition therapy into the overall management of diabetes.
  • Provide diabetes education for patients, healthcare workers and the community.
  • Encourage the diabetes team to support, and reinforce nutrition prescriptions, and to help patients manage their meal plan.
  • Supervise the planned education process for the goals of medical nutrition therapy for diabetes.
  • Reinforce diabetes education, and instruction to the staff, and implement, and monitor educational plan of care.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers including receiving and writing orders to ensure effective, and efficient patient care, and achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Educator specializing in Diabetes Management credentialed from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) preferred.


Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'

    degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
