The Digital Communications Specialist will often oversee multi-channel strategies, integrating social media, email, and content marketing, which requires a broader skill set and knowledge base. The Digital Communications Specialist will often oversee multi-channel strategies, integrating social media, email, and content marketing, which requires a broader skill set and knowledge base. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans to promote athletic events, achievements and news.
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and feature stories highlighting student-athletes, coaches and events.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of the official website for Georgia State Athletics including but not limited to; writing/updating bios for players, coaches and staff; writing and posting all news articles.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of game day materials such as game notes, statistics, and programs.
- Handle all aspects of statistics including but not limited to, stating athletics events, handling season statistics, following statistical trends and maintaining record books.
- Provide support during home and away events, including game day media operations and press box management.
- Manage relationships with local, regional and national media outlets to maximize coverage of athletic events and initiatives.
- Monitor media coverage and social media platforms to identify trends and opportunities for proactive outreach.
- Coordinate and facilitate media interviews, press conferences and other media interactions with athletes, coaches and staff.
- Assist in maintaining historical records, statistics, and archives related to athletic programs.
- Create compelling content for digital platforms including websites, social media channels and newsletters.
- Collaborate with marketing and design teams to ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms.
