ABOUT HCHSA

In sports, a dynasty is a team or individual that dominates their sport or league for an extended length of time. Over the last 25 years, The Harris County - Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) has served as the sports marketing agency for the city of Houston and Harris County and has dominated the competition with the hardware to prove it. HCHSA is responsible for bidding on and attracting new sports events to the Houston area, as well as overseeing the marketing and operations of those events. These events include NCAA Final Fours, NCAA College Football Playoffs, CONCACAF Gold Cup, FIFA World Cup Committee, MLB and NBA All-Star Games, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and the annual National Battle of the Bands. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Harris County - Houston Sports Authority is seeking well-rounded students looking to excel in the sports industry. Our Digital Marketing Interns have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience working alongside the HCHSA Marketing Team.

SCOPE OF WORK
  • Content Creation: Collaborate with the team to conceptualize and develop engaging content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube. This will involve writing copy, brainstorming creative ideas, and editing content.
  • Community Engagement: Manage day-to-day interactions on HCHSA's social media channels. Publish posts and respond to audience comments and messages to foster a vibrant online community.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in weekly meetings with the HCHSA team to discuss strategies, share ideas, and align on upcoming projects.
  • Design and Editing: Utilize your skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and CapCut to assist in creating graphics, updating templates, and editing video content.
  • Content Capture: Capture high-quality photography and video during events to create engaging visual content for our social media platforms.
  • Monitoring and Analytics: Track daily content performance and fan engagement across platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Provide insights and suggestions for improvement based on engagement metrics.
  • Trend Research: Stay informed about emerging social media practices and trends. Share relevant findings with the Social Media Team to enhance our strategies and content.
  • Marketing Support: Assist with various marketing tasks, such as writing newsletters and crafting bios for team members and events.
  • Digital Media Management: Help maintain and organize our digital media library, ensuring that assets are easily accessible for future projects.
  • Event Support: Provide on-site assistance during events, including setup, teardown, and photography/video editing, to ensure a smooth and successful experience for attendees and participants.
  • Market Research: Conduct general and event-specific market research to support our marketing initiatives and inform our strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with various aspects of Adobe Creative Suite (preferred), please provide examples of work
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Efficient with creating content on most social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) please provide examples of work
  • Bonus Qualifications: Photography and/or videography experience with example work.
  • Eligible candidates must be at least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled as a full-time college/university student and must receive academic credit for this internship.
  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • During event dates, must be available to work long hours including holidays, weekends, and evenings if necessary
  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time.
  • Valid driver's license (be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Harris County)

COMPENSATION

Unpaid position, not eligible for HCHSA employee benefits; academic credit only
