Position Summary:

Reporting to the Dean of the Fox School of Business Management (FSBM) and the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM), the Director of Human Resource will play a vital role in strategic planning by partnering with college leadership.

The Director of Human Resource Management (HRM) provides strategy, advice, and guidance to staff in all areas of personnel administration. The Director, as the primary point of service, and with guidance from Temple University HR, provides counsel on all matters including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, retention, employee relations, disciplinary actions, reclassifications, compensation, organizational change, performance management, and equal employment opportunity.

The Director of HRM acts as a catalyst for change, supporting Fox and STHM in the development and implementation of policies, practices, and HR strategies that enable the schools to accomplish their broader strategic goals. The Director of HRM also ensures the consistent and equitable application of University HR policies and applicable labor laws, working under the guidance of the Dean to establish staff policies for Fox/STHM in accordance with University HR guidelines. The Director of HRM supports shaping an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture that drives diversity, excellence, and innovation by supporting talent, engagement, and staff experiences at work.

The Director of HRM provides guidance and leadership on all staff personnel policies specific to the schools and ensures all University policies and guidelines are communicated and adhered to.

The Director of HRM is the main point of contact with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and HR Business Partner supporting Fox and STHM. The Director of HRM works with the HR Business Partner and Employee and Labor Relations to resolve grievance and personnel issues.

The Director of HRM performs systematic and regular data gathering and recommends to senior leadership in making operational and management decisions. The Director of HRM remains current on all issues and policies affecting the FSBM/STHM portfolio and provides strategic recommendations on solutions-oriented actions and plans. The Director of HRM provides school-wide communications on administrative policy and human resources matters with respect to staff and represents the school as needed at university meetings and functions, including the Administrative Council and HR Council.

The Director of HRM may also be called on to support Faculty Affairs operations and communications as needed.

The Director of HRM performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 5 years of directly related HR experience in a complex business or university setting. Experience must include working independently in an advisory or consultant capacity managing various HR matters, covering the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, organizational change, performance management, training and development, compensation, job analysis, and an understanding of business management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $100,000.00

*Demonstrated ability to effectively manage human resources issues *Ability to understand the operational needs of divisions and units and develop plans, policies, and procedures responsive to those needs and supportive of the academic mission.

*Skill in project management.

*Extensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices sufficient to direct and advise others in these matters.

*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite software programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook). Ability to generate and understand reports and export and work with Excel.

Preferred:

*Advanced degree

*SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHR certification

*Experience managing staff

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
