The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicants for the role of DIRECT CARE WORKER III (DSW III) who are committed to building meaningful relationships in order to provide outstanding care and service. The DSW III provides direct care services and aid to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing for the participants' needs in daily living and those skills necessary for community life.

DDS serves over 43,000 vulnerable individuals throughout their lifetimes, providing a spectrum of day, employment, and residential supports. ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. Listed salary ranges are for one full year at current rates.
Qualifications:

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have (A) at least two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in providing direct support services to persons with developmental/ intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
An Associate's degree or higher with a major in a human services field, including sociology, special education, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Incumbents are required to possess a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

- Monitors direct care services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Assures correct implementation of ADL/ILS (adult daily living skills and Individual living skills), dining, CTP (Coordinated Treatment Plan) and use of equipment by direct observation and participation in the ISP (Individual Service Plan) programs,
- Maintains confidential records of individuals and attends individual's review meetings.
- Accompanies individuals to various appointments and provides leisure activities to individuals.
- Assists individuals in meeting his/her personal care and nutritional needs.
- Assists and supports individuals in making choices in his/her life.
- Maintains individual's rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations.
- May drive individuals to work, appointments, and recreational outings and perform related work as required.
- Provides ongoing daily supervision and training to DSW II's and I's.
- May act as building Supervisor/A.O (Administrative Officer), directs and participates in shift reports and assigns work locations and arranges overtime if needed.
Agency Requirements:
- Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
