Staff provide support in areas ranging from personal care, meal planning, grocery shopping, cleaning, community integration, financial management, transportation and coordination of medical care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DSP staff job requirements may include but are not limited to assisting in behavioral and personal care services to a specific learner that will enable him/her to reach his/her fullest potential and improve behavior, academic, social and functional skills.

• Working in a group home or residential setting

• Assist with any activity of daily living as outlined in the client's Behavior Support Plan or Individual Support Plan.

• Provide safe and continuous support in the home or the community.

• Provide recreation and leisure activities, teach functional communication, implement approved behavior plans, and achieve increased independence, productivity, and inclusion in the community.

• Ability to understand and implement a variety of Behavior Support Plans per each client's outcomes and goals if needed.

• Ability to complete data daily and in line with the expectations of the team, ensure proper completion of time sheets, checklists, and communication logs as outlined per client team.

• Ability to transport clients in company vehicle each shift as deemed appropriate.

• General upkeep and cleanliness of the home/facility.

• You are responsible, timely, professional and organized.

• You have exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• You have excellent attendance and take pride being on time and there for your scheduled shifts.

• You are comfortable with providing or assisting with personal care to others when needed (personal hygiene)

• You are patient, understanding, and compassionate.

• Adaptability- the day in the life of a DSP is never the same. DSP's need to adapt to the situation and their client's shifting needs during the time they spend together.

• Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
