Job Description:

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

To oversee the day-to-day operation of Academic and Endpoint Technology. This position manages the team responsible for support and maintenance of in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. It further includes support for all audio-visual systems and services, and end-user support across all academic and administrative departments. Work directly with the Director of Information Technology to plan needs and upgrades of all academic spaces and to provide necessary training to all employees in the use of new and emerging technologies which meet the strategic needs and interests of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • General experience with Active Directory.
  • Experience with patch management and threat assessment.
  • Experience in managing, maintaining, and using audio-visual solutions and intelligent display technologies.
  • Experiences with Faculty Instruction and technology curriculum integration.
  • Experience working with technology vendors to identify solutions, and sources from which to obtain the best and most economic outcomes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office365, Microsoft Teams, and related Microsoft services.
  • Experience in managing Zoom videoconferencing in a college/classroom environment.
  • Experience with virtual computing in a desktop or server environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience in customer support, including problem definition and resolution for both hardware and software.
  • Management experience with end user support, technology facilities maintenance, academic technology services and desktop management is essential.
Knowledge:
  • Excellent technical knowledge of application and systems deployment and management.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including Windows Server, and Windows 10 and 11.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SCCM, Intune or other Endpoint Management Systems.
Skills:

Ability to:
  • Present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language. • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Microsoft, MacIntosh and Unix/Linux.
