Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program. The appointee will join an established group of nationally known physicians and surgeons and oversee the full spectrum of treatment modalities for advanced heart failure, including multi-organ transplantation and DT VADS. In collaboration with a team with colleagues from Cardiac Surgery and the Transplant Center, the appointee will also be responsible for expanding a preeminent program for academic discovery and clinical care.

The program is currently ACGME-accredited to train a minimum of one ACGME-accredited advanced HF fellow (4th year cardiology) each year. Clinical responsibilities include the care of patients with advanced heart failure including VADs and post cardiac transplantation. Protected time is available for candidates with research experience or potential. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be BC/BE in Cardiology and/or an international equivalent.

We especially welcome applicants with leadership experience in managing a complex clinical operation. Additionally, we welcome applicants with experience with the management of PAH, and physician-scientists with translational or outcomes research expertise in heart failure.
