The ASPIRE Office in the Honors College at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Director.

About the Opportunity

This position will supervise ASPIRE Office full-time professional staff, graduate students, and student workers. The Director will recruit and advise students applying for prestigious, nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships through conducting workshops and information sessions, organizing and distributing scholarship information, convening and coordinating with faculty committees and managing logistical aspects of application processe

What You'll Do

  • Manage all related budgets to include but not limited to advertising/communications and correspondence in compliance with University and State guidelines, travel arrangements, procurement card documentation;
  • Administer the Peace Corps Prep Program, including recruiting and advising members, planning events, tracking student progress, and maintaining relationships with Peace Corps Headquarters staff
  • Provide reports on activities, progress, plans and challenges of the ASPIRE office; including a year end report
  • Represent the ASPIRE office to internal and external constituencies;
  • Strategic planning in accord with College and University priorities;
  • Design and carry out regular ASPIRE program assessment outcomes and implement assessment-based change;

    Serve on college/university committees as appropriate;
  • Oversee an ASPIRE initiative for advising students on selection of and application to professional and graduate schools;
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships;
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with units inside WVU;
  • Develop and articulate annual goals in consultation with supervisor;
  • Develop, provide and assess initiatives that enhance institutional competitiveness for prestigious, nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships;
  • Maintain ASPIRE social media platforms;
  • Maintain records with data available and provide as needed to students, faculty, departments, and administrators.



Teaching Assignment

  • Teach and/or design course curriculum for one Honors course in discipline per semester, which could include on-campus, online, or study abroad course



Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's level degree required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience involving:
    • Experience with prestigious scholarships
    • Undergraduate and/or graduate student advising
    • Experience with teaching, assessment, management

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid US driver's license.
