Director, Assessment & Referral Opportunity

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to children, adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Director, Assessment & Referral leads a fast paced team of professionals responsible for the hospital admission/intake process utilizing nursing and therapeutic processes. Builds a customer focused team who provides quality care, establishes standards of practice, provides effective fiscal management, and remains operations focused.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and monitors the assessment/intake process to ensure quality assessments, appropriate admissions as well as appropriate referrals are provided. Maintains effective lines of communication between the staff and the physician as the staff must work in conjunction with the admitting physician to establish appropriateness of admission, establish clinical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Oversees telephone triage activities. Monitors triage calls and information provided during the telephone triage such as offering assessment, referral information provided, access emergency medical or police services when needed. Ensures documentation of calls into computer-based systems.
  • Hires, supervises, develops talent, evaluates and disciplines staff.
  • Works closely with Director of Business Development building relationships with referral sources and community resources, addressing customer services concerns and marketing critical service lines.
  • Performs Assessment Specialist duties to include but not limited to triage, psychosocial screenings and evaluations of all patients, voluntary and involuntary, who present to the facility with a primary psychiatric, behavioral, or substance abuse complaint, as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other Human Service field required.
  • Active Florida State license as RN required for RN Candidates. LCSW or LMHC preferred for Therapist Candidates.
  • Three (3) years' experience in inpatient healthcare setting required preferably in a psychiatric inpatient facility. Three (3) years management/supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate thrives in a fast paced work environment, has strong team building skills, and understands fiscal and operational responsibilities.
