The Department of Neurologic a l Surg e ry, the Harol d C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) a n d the O'Donnell Brain Ins t itute (OBI) are jointly recrui t ing a Dir e ctor of the SCCC Ne u ro-Oncology Transla t ional Research Program. This leader will h a ve a primary f a cul t y appointment in the Departmen t of Neurological Surgery at U T Southwest e rn that is alig n ed with the candidate's training and expertise and will report academic a lly t o the
respec t ive Department C h air and/or Center D ir e ctor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide the over a ll leadership and academic vision for gr o wth and developm e nt of a mul t i-disci p linary Neuro- Oncology Transla t ional R e search P rogr a m of national reputation.

• S t imulat e and lead laboratory and clinical research in brain t u mor e t iology, p a thophysiology, and treatment.

• In partnership wit h UTSW departments, lead and support the r e crui t ment o f laboratory and c l inical investigators in neuro-oncology.

• Par t icipate in mentori n g of laboratory and clinical i n ves t ig a tors in brain t u mor r e search.

• Develop researc h partnerships with other academic institutions, pharma, and biotech to enhance programmatic translational goals.

• Secure an adequate portfolio of inves t igat o r-ini t iated and t rials with industry partners, focused on the needs of patients in the institu t ion's catchmen t area.

• Particip a te in the dev e lopment of intr a - and inter-programma t ic inter a ctions at the SCCC and O BI relevan t to brain t u mor research.

• Sustain effor t s in advocacy and outreach wit h a focus in Brain Tumor s.

Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
