Purpose:
Is an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner) and a member of the care delivery team. Is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the health care team.Performs non-emergent (disclosure) medical exams as needed on all children alleging sexual abuse with photo documentation equipment according to state protocol and International Association of Forensic Nurses standards when mutually agreed upon by the Executive Director, CAC, and Director, CACPerforms forensic non-acute (well) medical exams with photo documentation when mutually agreed upon by the CAC Director and Medical Director.
  • Analyzes and documents exams and photo documentation completed by Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (PSANEs) or Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs).Reviews and approves all non-emergent forensic and non-acute forensic examinations with photographic documentation of examination at a time mutually agreed upon by the CAC.Maintains accurate, timely, and carefully written documentation and photo documentation of exams.
  • Provides expert witness testimony in court, as needed by the District Attorney or by subpoena.Participates in monthly multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and all partnering agency meetings as needed.Participates in peer review as directed.
  • Follows and abides by the procedures and policies of the CAC and partnering agencies.*Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the population served. Undergraduate degree, 2 years of Graduate School, and successful completion of certification exam required. Pennsylvania state Board License (CRNP, APRN, NP, PNP or PA) required. 16 hours of formal didactic training in the medical evaluation of Child Sexual Abuse. Must meet at least ONE of the following training standards: (1) Child abuse Sub-board eligibility. (2) Child abuse fellowship training or Child Abuse Certificate of Added Qualification. (3) Satisfactory completion of competency-based training in the performance of child abuse examinations. (4) Physicians without board certification or eligibility in the field of child abuse pediatrics, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants should have a minimum of 16 hours of formal didactic training in the medical evaluation of child sexual abuse. Special Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Good clinical judgment. Critical thinking skills necessary in application of acceptable standards of practice. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
BLS or CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
