SUMMARY: Responsible for delivering quality solutions to customers through the management of maritime industrial marine construction projects. Responsible for providing cross-functional inspection services, representing the Owner, and leading a team of inspectors for new construction terminal development projects ensuring quality and compliance in accordance with the design, contract, specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage project delivery overseeing heavy civil /marine construction, including coordination and engagement with contract stakeholders, local, state, and federal agencies. Conduct inspections and leads the Construction Management team on inspection activities that touch multiple development disciplines, which may include structure, piping, electrical, pile driving, dredging, and site work, at various stages of the construction process to identify defects and discrepancies with the plans and specifications. Works proactively to help the contractor prevent mistakes and identify deficiencies and non-conformities early as possible in the process. Participates actively in the testing and commissioning of all systems, ensuring functionality and quality. Maintains a daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress to the contractor's schedule, reporting deviations to the Owner and working with the contractor to correct same. Develop, track, and implement controls to manage project and organizational risk. Communicate project status to key stakeholders. Manage the development, negotiation, and implementation of contract changes. Contribute to the continual enhancement of project management methodology. Supervise project management team consisting of employees, contractors, and/or subcontractors, including performance management responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of related experience in construction management, marine/cargo operations and/or engineering projects with budgets exceeding $100 million.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Proficient in utilizing project management software such as Primavera and/or Microsoft Project.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to train and direct the work of others. Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, budgeting, and administrative management. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of project construction, designing, scheduling, estimating, planning, and inspecting. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of marine, mechanical, and/or civil engineering. Knowledge of contract negotiation and administration as well as the ability to execute contracts in compliance with corporate guidelines.

OTHER: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts single business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
