Description

Vitalant is currently seeking a Director of Data & Analytics to be responsible for architecting, planning, and organizing the Vitalant Enterprise Data Warehouse and reporting functions. Partners with the Financial Planning and Analysis group to gather requirements and provide solutions through metrics, reports, and dashboards for various business units. Additional responsibilities include partnering with other business leaders to plan, develop, and implement cloud based analytic solutions. Collaborates with other IT leaders for assistance in data extraction and transformation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates performance of assigned personnel. Identifies and effectively resolves personnel issues.
  • Leads data and analytics strategy in Vitalant while continuing to build on the vision, strategy, standards, and roadmaps surrounding digital innovation.
  • Oversees and assists in modernizing the data analytic stack which includes the enterprise data warehouse, cloud analytics, and moving towards AI/ML.
  • Builds a data first culture by creating data standards and governance along with communications around the enterprise’s data and analytics platform for digital business.
  • Educates business partners on roles, responsibilities, processes, and deliverables required to support the effective delivery of technology solutions.
  • Helps to ensure company compliance with applicable data security, data protection, and regulations around the Vitalant data enterprise.
  • Expands the organization’s research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills and technologies, focusing them on digital business innovation.
  • Continues to build, grow, and mentor team of developers, architects, and practitioners that focus on the organization’s RITE Values.
  • Assists in expansion and development of data governance practices to ensure data definitions are standard throughout data landscape.
  • Establishes, monitors, and tracks performance measures as a means to drive process improvement and measure progress to departmental objectives.
  • Remains abreast of changes and developments in the blood banking industry related to regulations and standards and provides direction to implement required changes. Establishes and maintains a network of professional relationships.
  • Manages Data Integration for EDW and Business Intelligence team consisting of ETL developers using tools such as Informatica and business intelligence applications such as Power BI and Crystal Reports along with cloud development team.


Requirements

Knowledge/Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Master’s in Information Management or Business Administration preferred.

Understanding of modern data warehouse techniques, such as Kimball and Azure required.

Advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing required.

Experience

Eight years of related experience in information technology or application systems

required. To include:

• Five years of leadership experience required.

Three years’ experience with public cloud technologies and frameworks for data management such as Azure, AWS required.

Experience with full software development life-cycle required.

Experience in developing both high level and detailed business requirement documentation to support application upgrades, enhancement, and add-on functionality required.

Experience with concepts such as data lake, cloud analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning required.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active member of management.

Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management to provide consistent high levels of customer service.

Must have a participative management style, strong team development, coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate senior and executive-level managers.

Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem solving skills.
