The Director of Design, Process and Technolgy Engineering will be based in Farmington Hills, MI. You will be a member of a team of high-performance computing specialists developing advanced Autonomous Vehicle and Computing systems. You are a hands-on, motivated, and broadly capable engineer with demonstrated capabilities creating new and unique high-technology products. Your experience spans electro-mechanical product design, computer systems design, and development of production capable, automotive products. The role serves products jointly designed by Flex with our OEM and Tier One Automotive customers.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do...

- Direct and control the activities of broad functional area through several senior Design & Engineering managers involved in activities such as designing, developing, modifying and evaluating integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and systems

- Partner with other leaders to establish objectives and action plans

- Ensure the development of Design & Engineering solutions for diversified industry segment covering a wide range of products and volume mixes

- Ensure budget, schedules and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines

- Provide technical and strategic guidance to subordinate directors to ensure achievement of goals and objectives

The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, make educated decisions and drive action plans for progress
  • 10 years' Tier 1, Tier 2, or OEM experience

  • Demonstrated capability in scaling up teams, including recruiting and developing talent, as well as scaling up design tools and processes.
  • Ability to successfully manage remote teams, including those in other regions.
  • Solid understanding of creating and managing engineering budgets, as well as tracking and driving to key performance indicators, including cost-savings metrics
  • A track record of launching high volume automotive products into production.
  • Knowledge of key technologies and design challenges for wire harness products.
  • High level of oral, written, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams, internal stakeholders, and customers.
