Director, Digital Portfolio Management

Description

This role will lead the Investment Management team in Digital Workplace. This includes financial and capacity planning, prioritization of spend, collaboration with product and servicing teams on vendor engagement, and partnering with the Technology Finance organization to effectively manage budget and investment funding.

Organizational Context

Digital Workplace (DW) is a part of the Technology organization that provides tools and services to American Express colleagues. This role will report to the VP, Portfolio & Operational Excellence and will manage a team of managers and analysts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the DW Investments team to ensure the achievement of short-term, medium-term, and long-term financial targets.
  • Collaborate with the Finance organization to reconcile and forecast the cost of plan delivery, monitoring multiple portfolios against delivery, cost, budget, forecast, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Analyze DW investments' underlying performance, delivering actionable financial insights for informed decision-making.
  • Lead the annual Long-Range Plan (LRP) process in collaboration with the Digital Workplace Leadership team and Technology Finance, utilizing financial expertise to provide impactful analytics and insights.
  • Work with Controllership, Global Supply Management (GSM), Technology Finance, and other stakeholders to prepare comprehensive financial updates and accurate projections.
  • Keep informed of industry trends and best practices in financial management, integrating innovative methods into existing processes.
  • Guide Strategic Workforce Planning by understanding the strategy, expenses, capacity demand, and long-term direction for colleagues and contractors.
  • Partner with the DW Global Asset Management team to integrate device refresh strategies and onboarding/attrition trends into financial projections, ensuring accurate accounting practices with Controllership.
  • Identify and implement innovative re-engineering and cost-saving opportunities.


Qualifications

  • Strong fiscal management and program/portfolio management experience and skills
  • Previous experience with large/global programs and/or portfolios
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
  • Builds reciprocal relationships at all levels
  • Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Ability to translate strategic opportunities and emerging technology solutions into tangible and practical plans that can be executed.
  • Expert level skills with communications and analytical tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)


Qualifications

Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
