The Director of Observability, Quality Engineering and Operations heads a team of passionate developers and engineers solving complex issues. They strive to improve the reliability and performance of services provided to our customers. This group also is responsible for the testing and certification of all applications. This role involves strategizing, evaluating, designing, and implementing standards and procedures that bolster the company's reliability and software practices.



Interface

  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both senior and operating level IT and Business leaders.
  • Understand and provide recommendations for improvement of Business Processes by using existing IT capabilities, identifying improvements to existing IT capabilities and define new strategic IT capabilities.
  • Engage and ensure effective delivery of business deliverables and tasks with business partners for delivery of technology solutions (development of business requirements, scope management, training business change management and deployment)


Delivery/Support

  • Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with IT and business partners.
  • Responsible for managing the definition, implementation, and integration of quality principles and quality processes into the design and development of software and IT processes.
  • Ensures that products, applications, and systems are in compliance with established quality standards, and meet customer requirements. Define software delivery process and tech methodology for tools and applications.


IT Process Mgmt. and Administrative

  • Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed, and performed.
  • Provide information and periodic updates to support overall IT performance metrics, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review.


Organizational Effectiveness / People

  • Provide leadership by establishing and managing individual and team goals.
  • Develop and maintain an overall sourcing plan which includes creative sourcing options and alternatives to ensure supply capacities meet work demand, role, and skills requirements and cost objectives.
  • Partners with various functional teams across the business and IT departments to support strategic enterprise vision and design.


Observability

  • This team strives to unify the tools to collect, process, store, and analyze large volumes of telemetry data in real time.
  • You will closely work with a group of accomplished engineers and technologists.
  • Operating a reliable global service requires good observability and automation.
  • The Observability team is responsible for the infrastructure and applications that processes telemetry data in real time and provides insights that engineers depend on to measure, visualize, investigate, and optimize how customers experience the service.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team and other key stakeholders to design and implement new Observability Platform/Framework and to establish DT Tech Ops SLO's and SLI's.


Application Operations

  • This 24X7 team aims to proactively identify issues across our enterprise portfolio of applications.
  • They partner with DevOps ensuring SOPs are documented and certified as part of the delivery process.
  • They are support incidents and engage the appropriate support groups to resolve incidents.


This role is Hybrid out of Chicago or Houston.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree; Computer Science, Information Systems, or related.
  • 12+ years of IT related experience.
  • 5+ years in IT Management experience.
  • Experience in software testing of multiple major projects.
  • Experience required in multiple technical platforms, operating systems, databases, and development languages.
  • Prior experience with observability solutions (Dynatrace, Datadog, AppD, Big Panda, etc.) is a big plus.
  • Must have worked within a multi-disciplined, cross-functional technical organization with matrixes reporting relationship.
  • Experience in leading software development teams.
  • Experience in travel industry, especially airline related is a significant plus.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
