PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Director, Finance Transformation (Project Delivery) at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to oversee the Finance Transformation Data Team leading data governance, data quality, and data transformation change management. This role will define the strategic vision of data for the finance department through data utilization mapping, identifying opportunities to standardize and simplify data, define the business data architecture for projects and initiatives and document data risk and controls. The individual must have job experience with Business Process Analysis, Data Mapping, Change Management, Risk Management/Control and Data.

  • Act as the strategic leader by directing the execution of data to transform the utility of the Finance team to a modernized scalable state that aligns with department and project goals.
  • Lead and take ownership of data accuracy and adherence to data governance practices, as well as align with enterprise data standards and policies.
  • Direct relevant stakeholders on data related matters with a focus on the business use of the data, and own the supporting documentation for data standards, business rules and policy.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on organizational data flows and interfaces into business processes, models and reporting to drive consistency and quality throughout the organization and be able to communicate that vision through advanced storytelling and data analytics.
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with functional leaders, process owners, system users, and business leaderships across the department to ensure assessment, requirements-gathering, design, and implementation data activities are developed, implemented, and validated with stakeholder input and align with the Enterprise Data Governance standards, governance processes, and overall best practices.
  • Maintain the process of creating and updating data source systems.
  • Direct the team performance expectations and manage team, including managers', delivery of requirements, yielding consistent results.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years' relevant work experience with related data design, extraction and analysis in a Finance specific domain, associated processes, involved systems and data usage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a management role.
  • BA/BS degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field. Working knowledge of financial systems and controls.
  • Collaborate across organizations to propose and influence solutions that meet business and functional objectives.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, and SQL.
  • Proficient with data visualization/BI tools, such as PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Experience as a leader in data management fundamentals, including concepts such as data dictionaries, data models, validation, analytics, and reporting; prior experience designing business data architecture structures.
  • Proficient in Data Engineering and ability to direct the manipulation of raw data within visualization tools (e.g., Power BI and Tableau) to create effective dashboards and data analytics that visually communicate end-to-end data results.
  • Experienced project management skills must include Agile, Communication Strategy and Management, Delivery Excellence and Requirements management.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will directly supervise employees.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
