Your Role:

As part of our Digital & eCommerce (D&eC) organization, you will have the opportunity to work on the leading website in the life science industry to shape the overall customer experience and support the development of our digital strategy based on data-driven insights. The Head of D&eC Analytics and Data Science will lead a team of analysts, data scientists and data engineers leveraging our vast data repositories to deliver best in class eCommerce analysis to drive growth and profitability for the company as well as uncovering insights that will to shape our team's strategy, priorities, and business targets. In this influential role you will be able to advise and direct strategic decisions utilizing insights derived from modeling and analysis of our data.

As the Head of D&eC Analytics and Data Science you will be responsible for:
  • Developing and managing analytic capabilities/solutions (e.g. insights, tools, and systems) to drive understanding of key business drivers, and proactively evaluate performance trends
    • Leading the sales forecasting process across D&eC and working with our Finance and Commercial business partners
    • Prioritizing and leading ongoing ad hoc analysis of critical business questions; translate the analysis into actionable insights
    • Presenting concise analysis and recommendations to peers and senior leaders
  • Establishing success metrics/KPIs for eCommerce team and setting stretch targets
    • Supporting Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) with analysis and robust measurement protocols
  • Identifying opportunities to impact strategic decisions and improve overall business performance by preparing and presenting compelling business cases to drive investment opportunities and mitigate headwinds while accelerate/leverage tailwinds
  • Democratizing data for use through the organization by architecting and constructing data pipelines, repositories and reporting warehouses
  • Monitoring, evaluating and evangelizing improved data-driven views of site performance
    • Designing and implementing A/B testing and MVT strategies
    • Planning and implementation of site analytics tagging aligned with the needs of Digital & eCommerce and business partners
  • Implementing machine learning strategies and tactics that leverage billions of data points accumulated from our websites and businesses built over decades (i.e., recommendations, personas, causal impact)
  • Defining the future vision for data products and solutions for the organization; building the roadmap of investments to solve current data quality and availability challenges


This is an exciting role with the potential to leverage data, creativity, and technology, and will be highly visible at all levels of the organization. You are first a business leader, who can utilize expertise and understand data to build compelling narratives for the eCommerce team and other business leaders; You also have the technical skills to straddle and deliver not only basic analytics, but also advanced statistical and machine learning techniques that enable improved digital marketing and delivery of a world class customer experience.

This role can be located in St. Louis, MO, or Burlington, MA.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Experience in a fast-growth, global eCommerce, technology company or consulting; MBA or MS preferred
  • Direct experience in sales forecasting and reporting, marketing analytics, web analytics, cloud computing platforms, or similar
  • Leadership/direct management of high performing analytics teams


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success during 10+ years of experience leading a geographically dispersed team of 20+ Analysts, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers; experience as a manager of managers
  • Proven ability to think strategically and use insights to influence strategy
  • Collaborative, but with the ability to challenge and hold ground with business leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex statistical and data-intensive analysis in a way that resonates with executives and non-analysts; combined with an ability to develop and improve the communication skills of others (both written and verbal)
  • Strong business and financial acumen, that clearly comes through in clear and cogent presentation skills and ability to convey a message to broad range of audiences
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and align cross-functional teams with professionalism and clarity
  • Acumen for uncovering, evaluating, and prioritizing analysis and data science applications with an inherent intuition about the "right weight" of solutions and time spent
  • Strong collaboration across functions and locations, building relationships globally, seeking and creating alignment
  • Decisive in the face of ambiguity; nimble in response to challenging decisions
  • Extensive experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with statistical analysis including statistical, data analysis, and data visualization tools such as SAS, SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Looker or similar
  • Experience applying statistical methodologies to enable key objectives including but not limited to cross sell/up sell, marketing automation and SEO
  • A track record for developing or selecting and integrating vendors with sophisticated models for marketing mix modeling, product recommendation engines, and marketing automation
  • Possess an excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc
  • Experience in implementing and improving audience and segment definition and targeting, marketing automation, CLTV, SEO
