Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill , a Long Term Skilled Nursing Facility in Orange County, NY is seeking a Director of Admissions. The Director of Admissions will be responsible for the admission process for new patients by ensuring availability of reimbursement for services and identifying the clinical team to deliver care. The Director of Admissions will ensure communication needs of residents, patients and family members are met. This individual must have a sincere respect for the elderly members of society, as the position requires in depth communication with residents.

. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes but not limited to
  • Make sure all referrals are responded to in a timely manner. (Within 0-10 mins)
  • Build and grow census and quality mix by developing the market and providing prospective patients/responsible parties with information and assistance in choosing a nursing center.
  • Run insurance and obtain Authorizations, Single Case Agreements, Out-of-Network authorizations if needed.
  • Work closely with the Corporate & Regional team and all others involved to maintain consistent admissions, discharge and transfer meetings.
  • Review performance statistics including customer flow, pending and lost inquiries, denials, hospital discharges and sales activity.
  • Handle inquiry calls from hospitals, families, etc., and provide appointments that include a presentation, tour and closing.
  • Maintain updated bed ability and facility services information.
  • Makes sales calls outside the facility to medical, insurance, legal and financial professionals, senior organizations, appropriate special interest groups, hospital discharge planners and other community contacts.
  • Compile and distribute admission papers.
  • Ensure all papers are properly filled out and input into system.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Federal and state regulations and reimbursement.
  • Help expedite admissions process for emergencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
  • Report all inquiries, admissions, and discharges.
  • Work with nursing and housekeeping staff to maintain knowledge of number of beds available.
  • Inform housekeeping staff of empty rooms and have them cleaned and ready for admission.
  • Audit all room equipment and ensure everything is in working order.
  • Maintain relationships with local hospitals, senior organizations, assisted living and senior housing facilities, appropriate special interest groups, churches and other community contacts.
  • Participate in meetings to alert appropriate staff members of projected admissions, room changes, discharges and appointments/tours.
  • Communicate special needs of new admissions to staff to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Make sure census is completed by 10am daily.
  • Follow up on all patients who were transferred to the hospital from facility .


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience as a successful Admissions Coordinator in a short term rehabilitation/long term care facility preferred
  • Healthcare, sales, marketing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, typing, medical terminology knowledge and data entry required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors.
