Director of Business Office

The Department Director is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital's mission, vision, and facility goals.  The Director identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the department's business, taking into account business trends, resource availability, and customer changes.  This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.  The Director identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement.  The Department Director works with Senior Management in meeting Facility goals. The Business Office Director oversees all functions of Collecting/Billing/Insurance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirements.
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of hospital business office experience or related field is required.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for building and maintaining high-quality registration, billing, customer service, reimbursement, and collection processes.
  • Assume the lead role in innovation, knowledge sharing, and leading practices; identity within the Business Office and among peer groups.
  • Develop specific objectives, budgets, and performance standards for each area of responsibility.
  • Provide daily management and oversight to ensure processes occur accurately and timely in assigned areas.
  • Monitor bad debt and contractual losses against budgeted levels.
  • Monitor cash flow to ensure the achievement of Hospital goals.
  • Monitor compliance with administration policies and procedures to minimize process variation and maximize results.
  • Supervise the preparation and maintenance of departmental policy and procedure manuals in compliance with Hospital standards.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly A/R reports and bad debt projections for the Director of the Revenue Cycle.
  • Review write-off listings, refund requests, miscellaneous cash adjustments, and departmental expense vouchers and submit them to administration for approval.
  • Comply with all reimbursement and billing procedures for regulatory, third-party, and private insurance payers.
  • Perform staff reviews and prepare performance documents for direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned.
