Day-to-Day:
Insight Globals client, a major port on the East Coast, is looking for a Director of Engineering to join their team. This role will be responsible for the design, coding and maintanance of their PLC software that runs their container handling cranes. As the Director of Engineering, you will be using your knowledge to understand the engineering and maintenance of the computer systems and their CHE equipment and how any change to one impacts both the software and hardware. This will be a full time role onsite in Bayone, NJ with a competative base salary, bonus opportunities, plus excellent benefits.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide computer-based tools, such as Crane Management Systems (CMS) screens to allow the maintenance workforce the capabilities to efficiently diagnose and maintain CHE equipment in a safe and expedient manner.
2. Identify revisions and additions to Preventative Maintenance procedures.
3. Interfaces with Operations to determine if Rail Mounted Gantry crane (RMG) operations can be optimized for better overall performance.
4. Assess equipment safety and readiness levels in real time.
5. Identify and coordinate projects dealing with improving equipment operational and maintenance productivity.
6. Provide technical assistance as required including after-hours operational support.
7. Assist in the identification and acquisition of spare and replacement parts.
8. Determine acceptable level of maintenance spare parts inventory kept on site.
9. Ensure all manuals, drawings, schematics and software are kept current at all times.
10. Monitor maintenance projects to ensure personnel have the proper tools and training to perform their jobs.
11. Coordinator of CHE system software residing on IT servers.
12. Project design and management of new equipment acquisitions.
13. Interface with personnel as necessary on technical issues to ensure safe and proper understanding of the problem(s), trouble-shooting techniques, repair procedures and ultimate resolution of any technical problems as they arise.
14. Investigate causes of equipment malfunctions and test corrections to prevent future malfunctions.
15. Identify high failure items and suggest replacement items to increase MTBF. Additionally work with the CHE equipment vendors to get replacement items to be integrated into their new products.
16. Maintain up to date software for all CHE Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and computer systems.
17. Develop CMS screens as needed by maintenance to allow workforce to troubleshoot and correct issues without having to apply changes or forces in the PLC programs.
18. Contact equipment manufacturers for technical support, as required.
19. Coordinate the scheduling of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Contractor Service.
20. Develop specifications for new CHE equipment.
21. Maintain communications with other terminals using similar CHE equipment to share issues, solutions and best practices.
22. Provide data for productivity analysis by Management Resource Center (MRC) group.

Required Skills & Experience
- Specializes in the troubleshooting and repair of CHE, specifically container handling cranes
- Experience running the design, code, and PLC software of container handling cranes
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing digital equipment: including AC Drives, GE PLCs, Remote monitoring systems (Cimplicity), Windows Computer systems, Scanning la , and other Control Systems
- Knowledgeable in diagnosing and preparing procedures for repairs of fiber optics, network cameras, ethernet and Profibus communications
- Degree of equivilent certified technical training

Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience working with Rail Mounted Gantry cranes (RMG)
