FlexStaff is seeking an experienced Director, Laser Tracking to join our client's team, a leading manufacturer of optics technology for the defense, aerospace and commercial industries.
This is a full-time, direct hire position, located onsite in Suffolk County, NY. Site is ITAR regulated.
The ideal candidate is an engineer experienced in laser tracking for high-precision and large-scale measurement. Should have familiarity with components such as beam splitters, interferometers, mirrors, lasers, power supplies, laser tracking control systems, servo motors, photodiodes, laser diodes, and machine vision sensors.
Reporting directly to the CTO, this role is very hands-on with daily interactions with CTO and the production team.
Skills:
• Expert in researching, designing and implementing laser tracking or related technologies such as LIDAR.
• extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to engineer complex and demanding cutting-edge products in photonics or related industries.
• commercial product/business expertise
• strong engineering technical background
• problem solving and creativity
• excellent communication skills
• ability to operate comfortably and effectively at a director level
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree - preferably in Engineering
• Minimum 15 years of Engineering management experience - preferably in complex multidisciplinary development projects.
• Experience working in a matrix organization is preferred
Technology Strategy Responsibilities:
• setting and maintaining a viable short- and long-term technology strategy for the laser tracking business
• managing and deploying the technology for current and future laser tracking projects
• maintaining a flexible, productive laser tracking engineering team with the relevant skills and tools
• marketing the technology to key customers, partners and investors at a senior business level
Engineering Management Responsibilities:
• leading the engineering team to develop and release the T-LRF on time and within the agreed budget
• responsible for the optical, mechanical, electrical and software architecture necessary to deliver the desire long range, accurate and real time performance
• conformance to relevant standards and compliances
• reporting project status and KPIs to management
The salary range for this position is $150,000-$NaN/year
