Job Description
1. Serve as the DIRECTOR OF FIRE SAFETY and LIFE SAFETY OFFICER who manages Hospitals Fire Safety Departments and programs.
2. Direct the daily operations of Fire Safety and the fire safety directors.
3. Ensures that polices and procedures and documentation are developed, maintained and implemented in order to ensure compliance with TJC, CMS, NFPA, FDNY, DOB, DOH standards.
4. Ensure Fire/Life Safety programs for the Hospital are effective and educational for staff members, including RACE, PASS, Evacuation, building protection features and Active Shooter Training.
5. Act as the principal Liaison with the Fire Department (FDNY) during building inspections, surveys, fire and non-fire operations.
6. Manage the performance improvement program of the department in accordance with established Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
7. Direct evacuation during a fire or non-fire emergency, as necessary.
8. Conducts, supervise, and evaluate required fire/evacuation drills in accordance with standards with regulatory agencies.
9. Perform internal Fire/Life safety inspections and review external life safety survey reports; conduct and implement Interim Life Safety Measures for any life safety deficiencies as per NFPA 101 2012 Edition.
10. Maintain all records required by law, as well as other record keeping task that other regulatory agencies require.
11. Participate in multidisciplinary hazard surveillance rounds including Safety, Infection Control, Facilities, and Hospital Police.
12. Participate in planning and implementation of capital and special construction projects; conduct and implement the preconstruction risk assessment and infection control risk assessment to ensure compliance with Life Safety Codes.
13. Chair the Constant Readiness Compliance Committee and meet monthly to ensure survey readiness with TJC, CMS, DOH and OMH.
14. Other duties as assigned and necessary during emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public, Hospital or Business
Administration, Health Care Specialization, Engineering, Social Services or a related discipline; and four (4)
years of progressively responsible experience relating to health care program planning, research, design,
operations, evaluation and analysis, one (1) year of which must have been in supervision or planning and/or
analysis; or
2. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five
(5) years of progressively, responsible experience relating to health care program planning, research, design,
operations, evaluation and analysis, one (1) year of which must have been in supervision or planning and/or
analysis; or
3. A satisfactorily equivalent combination of education and experience, in which 30 graduate-level semester
credits from an accredited college or university can be substituted for one year of experience. However, all
applicants must have at least a Bachelor's Degree.
