Job Summary
Responsible for the facility's health information department. Provides for conformance to legal, professional and accreditation standards, statistical reporting, and assistance to staff in research projects. Responsible for oversight of physician and allied health credentialing. Oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization's policies and procedures covering the privacy of and access to patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization's privacy practices.
Qualifications: Must have strong working knowledge of State Statutes and medico legal aspects associated with "ownership and control" of health information systems, privileged communications, and subpoena powers of various governmental agencies. Proficiency in all competency areas including but not limited to clinical records, privacy official responsibilities, supervisory responsibilities, patient rights, etc. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills to work effectively with physicians, other hospital staff, employees, and the public. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the medical records department. Safety procedures and practices knowledge required. Must be highly organized, have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. RHIA by the American Health Information Management Association required.
Wage: Depending on your work experience, you could earn an annual salary of up to $97,855.
