Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

The Director is a member of the Office of the President and reports to the Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives.

The Director of the Historic Triangle Campus and Community Initiatives will provide oversight and coordination at the Historic Triangle Campus located in Williamsburg, VA. They will maintain relations, conduct outreach, coordinate activities and programs, and interact with agencies, businesses, and individuals in the localities of James City County, Williamsburg, York County, and the City of Poquoson.

The Director leads cross-functional teams and coordinates planning efforts that ensure the off-site locations are considered when designing and delivering recruitment, engagement, and enrichment activities. In partnership with college leaders, the Director monitors and advocates for those who utilize these sites and facilities. The incumbent will initiate and direct outreach efforts to community-based organizations, economic development organizations, and local government officials. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with college leadership to co-author grants and participate in local events to increase the community’s awareness of college programs and resources.

The Director serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff and will help problem solve, identify options, and direct individuals to use appropriate channels for solutions. This position is designated as a “Title IX Responsible Employee” and a “Campus Security Authority” and will be required to follow regulations for reporting violations of the Code of Conduct and/or law.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Multiple years of relevant work-related experience.
  • Considerable experience leading and managing complex projects that meet or exceed expected outcomes.
  • Extensive experience with budget management and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated experience writing grant proposals or securing and managing public or private funds.
  • General experience with facility operation or management.
  • Experience with marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Experience conducting assessment and evaluation that leads toward continuous improvement.

  • Successful completion of all required and provided training and certifications within the first year of employment and renewed as required to serve students such as Title IX Training, Mental Health First Aid, DCJS Threat Assessment Training, Campus Security Authority Training, etc.
