Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a Director of Nursing-Intensive Care Units (Med/surg, Cardiac, Neuro) and Hospital Supervisors to join our Patient Care Support Services team! This position will oversee the MISCU, CICU, and Neuro ICU, as well as the AWH Hospital Supervisor team.

The Director of Nursing is a Registered Nurse that understands and supports the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The Director works collaboratively to produce, nurture, and sustain a professional practice and healthy work environment that affords and enhances patient care effectiveness and efficiency through leadership to multidisciplinary teams, effective physician relationships, and a shared vision and dedication to the future of Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Nurse Directors have 24 hour/7 day per week accountability for the overall supervision of unit Leadership, all Registered Nurses and other Healthcare Providers in the area under their direction. The Nursing Director leads and has accountability for the planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring of process improvement, budgets and allocation of resources, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and professional governance to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives. The Director is also responsible for recruitment and retention, performance reviews, professional development, and delivery of nursing care for designated area(s).

HOURS: Full Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period. Day shift but does have 24/7/365 days per year responsibility.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing, Business Administration, or related field required or actively in pursuit of a master's degree.
  • Bachelor's in nursing required.
  • Five years' progressive experience as a staff nurse in an acute care facility, knowledge and expertise in area of application, and competency in critical thinking and prioritizing skills in previous employment situation necessary for patient care and management functions.
  • Previous experience in the supervision of personnel, evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, budget preparation and resource utilization required.
  • Possesses an active Wisconsin nursing license or compact.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.
