PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Director of The Baby Place monitors the overall performance of the department and provides instruction and direction to staff on a daily basis. The Director is responsible for customer satisfaction, financial management, regulatory compliance, Human Resources issues, employee competency, performance improvement, maintaining and complying with policies and procedures, and regular communication with employees.

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient and/or an assigned group of patients within a patient care unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. The RN is also responsible for supervising and responsibly directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment, while practicing within the State, facility and regulatory guidelines.

SHARE - Customer Satisfaction
  • Reviews the patient satisfaction results with staff at monthly staff meetings.
  • Discusses ways in which the employees can contribute to patient satisfaction. Departmental minutes reflect documentation not less than quarterly.
  • Provides specific feedback on the annual evaluation to each employee as to his or her contribution to patient satisfaction. Sets specific goals for employees scoring satisfactory or lower.

Financial Management
  • Reviews monthly departmental financial statements and research material variances to budget and prior period.
  • Reviews productivity reports as often as are merited (daily for clinical departments). Changes staffing levels to reflect appropriate productive hours per unit of service.
  • Strategic planning for business development/ retention by research and submitting capital requests.

Communication with Employees
  • Conducts monthly departmental meetings documenting names of persons in attendance and minutes of discussion. Secretary and Department Director sign a copy of the minutes for internal record.
  • Assures persons not in attendance have access to review meeting minutes.

Regulatory Compliance
  • Complies with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) standards to ensure the hospital maintains accreditation.
  • Complies with CMS (Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services) Conditions of Participation to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Complies with State of Georgia DHR ORS (Department of Human Resources, Office of Regulatory Services) Rules and Regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with changes made by any regulatory agency. Participates in the Continuous Survey Readiness Committee and conducts monthly tracers utilizing the electronic database.
  • Leads record reviews departmentally as recommended by AHS Risk Management (i.e. Apgar < 7 at 5 minutes; Fetal Heart Monitoring Strip review comparative to documentation, etc.).
  • Promotes a culture of safety through employee survey participation, occurrence reporting and follow up related to risk prevention activities/surveys.

Human Resources
  • Works with Employment Recruiter for staffing, which may include: Selection/Screening, Interviews, and Reference Checks.
  • Ensures employees are oriented to Gordon Hospital and their respective department, as well as reviewing employee's job description.
  • Ensures each employee is evaluated in accordance with Gordon Hospital's Performance Appraisal Policy (1800.46) - New hires after 90 - days, and annually there after.
  • Addresses progressive counseling through verbal and written communication. Consults Human Resources for guidance in progressive counseling and terminations.

Employee Competency
  • Provides an initial orientation for new employees upon hire.
  • Provides a 90-day competency evaluation for all new hires.
  • Provides an annual evaluation of competency based on job performance.
  • Changes competency evaluations as needed when new services provided, new job responsibilities or if clinical changes occur (new treatment, procedures, equipment, standard of care changes, new regulatory policy)
  • Ensures through evaluation process that employees are competent to do job for which they were hired.

Conforms to GH Policies and Procedures
  • Ensures that departmental staff complies with Gordon Hospital's hospital-wide policies, as well as departmental policies.
  • Reviews authored organizational policies every three years and/or when new standards are released/existing standards revised.
  • Reviews departmental procedures every three years and/or when new standards are released/existing standards revised. Coordinates posting on the intranet through the Administrative Assistant.

Performance Improvement
  • Selects not less than one (1) PI project for the year (submit request through annual PI indicator selection process).
  • Involves staff in the Performance Improvement process.
  • Reviews monthly PI indicator results, develops and implements applicable action plans based on findings.
  • Submits monthly data to the AHS Office of Clinical Effectiveness Office (due to Quality by the 5 th of the month - data for previous month).


Qualifications
What you will need?
  • Requires one (2) year hospital management experience or r equires a minimum of five (5) years experience in Obstetrics, Mother/Baby, Nursery
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with valid Georgia licenses issued by the Agency for Healthcare Administration of Georgia
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Masters Degree preferred
