Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurological Surgery is searching for a full-time associate or full professor. The appointee will assume the critical leadership role in advancing the joint pediatric neurosciences service line throughout the Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance (CCHA), a partnership between the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital, and NorthShore University Health System. The Director will be responsible for the pediatric neurosurgery program's research, education, and clinical programming missions. They will have the vision to identify and develop strategic collaborative initiatives across the CCHA, achieving mutually agreed upon goals by leveraging our commitment to outstanding patient care, education, and research. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Chicago has nationally recognized research, education, and quality improvement programs that build on collaborations across the University. The Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance has three active pediatric neurosurgeons serving the needs of children across a wide geography. We work closely with our pediatric hematology oncology and neuroscience programs to provide interdisciplinary care to pediatric neurosurgical patients with complex needs.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Neurosurgery (or equivalent), and 4) be fellowship trained in Pediatric Neurosurgery.

We especially welcome applicants with prior experience in administering clinical and educational programs, demonstrated leadership in the field of pediatric neurosurgery at the national level, expertise in minimally invasive and/or complex surgeries, and a strong interest in clinical education. Additionally, we welcome applicants who are nationally recognized leaders and program builders with strong backgrounds in all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery.
