JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing and managing the sterile processing areas supporting perioperative services and coordinating the reprocessing of and delivery of items to other areas within the health care organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures safe staffing needs are consistently met using workload measurement data and clinical judgment.
2. Develops budgets for assigned areas and ensures cost effective and cost-efficient use of resources.
3. Provides direction and input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues in preparation of operating and capital equipment budgets.
4. Leads departmental strategic planning and evaluates the effectiveness of the sterile processing/perioperative services strategic plan toward achieving desired outcomes.
5. Promotes communication among hospital departments and staff to optimize the interdependence of all stakeholders.
6. Ensures unit orientation programs meet learning needs of new employees and prepares staff to fulfill requirements of position.
7. Provides for, and coordinates, initial/annual competency evaluation and remediation plans for staff, as required.
8. Assesses staff needs for supervision, resources, and direction.
9. Identifies clinical and professional educational needs to promote staff development and mentors staff to identify personal learning needs.
10. Assures policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the hospital, health system, and all regulatory agencies.
11. Directs human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or another related field required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of experience working in a healthcare or supply chain environment with three (3) of those years in progressive leadership roles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with process flow, plant/manufacturing operations, assembly line, and/or sterile processing department preferred
